Bamboo is Latest Recruit for Army
The National Bamboo Mission under the Science and Tech Ministry is testing bullet proof jackets made of bamboo. These jackets weigh just 5kg and are also much cheaper than conventional ones. They are also experimenting with igloos made of bamboo, for protecting troops at high altitude.
